A few minutes to express a clear message: the Always with you fund, opened by his family to support the families of the health personnel who died in the fight against Covid, triggered a great solidarity contest. Eleven million euros, of which the first 5 donated by the Della Valle family. It’s Italy that works, that knows how to be fast and supportive when needed. Diego Della Valle summed up this afternoon of the open campaign in full Covid emergency, which in a few weeks will bring economic resources to those who, in the midst of the emergency, have lost a loved one.
“The fund that we promoted and created, then managed together with the Civil Protection, is called Always with you – recalls the leader of the Tod’s group – We wanted to help the families of doctors, paramedics and health personnel who died during the heroic work carried out for trying to save lives during the acute phase of the virus. Our family put the first 5 million euros, then we had a great response from Italians of all kinds, from great managers to the simplest people, with the same desire and the same passion. We have raised 11 million euros which will be distributed to around 200 families who have had grief at home ”.
The entrepreneur remembers “the emotion these people on the front line aroused. Everyone expressed a wonderful and incredible solidarity. On serious matters we Italians are there. This fund has shown with real facts how much Italians are present on the things that matter. Now we will notify the families, who will be able to apply, the operation will be managed by the Civil Protection, I thank Dr. Borrelli who has done a lot to facilitate the procedures, often extraordinarily long in this country. In this case we have been able, by putting together public, private and above all a strong common interest, to activate everything in a very short time. We will have to give the money to the families between September and the very first days of October, everything took place in an extraordinarily fast time ”.
Della Valle hopes that “it will never be necessary to do things like this again, but if it happens, I am convinced that this experiment has been very useful. People are mobilizing, we hope to no longer face such complicated unknowns that have made us see things that we thought could never happen. We are here and as my grandmother used to say, everyone does what he can and puts what he has. I tell my colleagues, thanking those who collaborated strongly in setting up the capital of this fund, that as entrepreneurs we have the duty, the pleasure and the obligation to be there when dramatic things happen. We must be actively involved, but in the logic that the more you have, the more you must be willing to give, we must be increasingly aware that we not only have the role of doing our job well, but also of making ourselves available to others. This project comes to its first stop and I hope it will be of help to families. Nobody will give them back their loved ones, but they will be able to facilitate the lives of these people, of the children who go to school, to restore some serenity and tranquility ”.
Today’s communication serves, Della Valle concludes, “to let families who have suffered a bereavement know that they will be able to submit applications to access the fund”. The queue is dedicated to another major emergency, that of the earthquake. Even at that time, Tod’s and the Della Valle family were at the forefront, opening a new factory in Arquata del Tronto. “Today as then, I am of the opinion that if some qualitative Italian factory arrives in the earthquake zones, it would be the only thing to give security to young people. If work and factories arrive, you can think of living in those places again ”.
