If they really cared about the environment, they would have brought this concept to market much earlier and built all laptops that way. Unfortunately, producers and the government mostly want you to consume as much as possible and this often clashes with sustainability.
If it becomes available, it will be treated more like a niche product and certainly not the new way forward, because that would mean a whole different business and I don’t see a company like Dell doing that. They are simply too entrenched in the capitalist system to get out
That’s why I see this concept more as a publicity stunt, because the word sustainability is a trendy but also empty concept in the IT world. You’ll be whacked on the ears with it, but in the end it’s often nothing more than a piece of greenwashing.
