After several years of absence, Apple recently returned to the monitor market. Unfortunately, at a minimum of € 5,499, the Pro Display XDR is unaffordable for ordinary people. To accompany a Mac mini or MacBook, you always have to choose from the catalog of other manufacturers.
At CES 2020, Dell is adding several references to its already well-stocked range. The UltraSharp U2520Q and U2720Q have 25 “(2,560 × 1,440 pixels) and 27” (3,840 × 2,160) IPS panels, respectively. They are both calibrated at the factory for good color compliance and have an anti-reflective coating.
Aimed in particular at creative people, they cover 99% of the sRGB color space and 95% of the DCI-P3. Their maximum brightness is 400 nits. The 25 “has a contrast of 1000: 1 while the 27” has a contrast of 1300: 1.
The borders around the slab seem quite thin, and as often with Dell, the ergonomics look good with an adjustable height and tilt, in addition to the swivel foot. The two monitors can connect to a Mac via USB-C and power it up to 90 W, which is enough for everyone except the 16 “MacBook Pro. They also have a DisplayPort 1.4 input and a HDMI 2.0 socket, as well as a USB-A 3.0 and another USB-C 3.0 port.No speakers, but a jack.
The UltraSharp U2520D and U2720Q will go on sale at the end of the month, at least in the United States, at $ 479 and $ 709 respectively. Prices in euros have not yet been communicated.
For those who have a very large desk, Dell has enough to occupy it with the UltraSharp U4320Q, a 42.5 “monitor. Its IPS panel has a definition of 3 840 × 2 160 pixels, a contrast of 1000: 1 , a brightness of 350 nits and covers 99% of the sRGB and 95% of the DCI-P3. Apart from its large diagonal, it is a classic monitor with a USB-C input (90 W), two DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0 Its integrated hub contains three USB-A ports and a USB-C 3.0, and will be on sale this month for $ 1,049.
Finally, if it’s not an office to occupy but a wall, Dell also has what it takes: the Dell 86 4K Interactive Touch Monitor (C8621QT), a giant screen of 85.6 “which is tactile Designed for collaborative meetings, it has a 4K definition and six inputs, including a USB-C. It will be available in April at an even mysterious price.
