Weiterstadt (dpa / lhe) – Baked goods worth around 5000 euros were destroyed in a fire in a truck in Weiterstadt-Gräfenhausen (Darmstadt-Dieburg district) on Monday morning. The driver of a delivery truck from a large bakery reported the fire as he was unloading in front of a supermarket, police said. According to initial investigations, the fire broke out directly in the truck, probably due to a technical defect. The vehicle itself sustained damage of around 50,000 euros. The driver was not injured. Nearly two hours after the fire was reported, firefighters were still busy putting out the blaze.
