BEIJING, May 9 (Xinhua) – China’s delivery industry saw growth in 2020, according to official data.
The country’s express delivery development index stood at 1,291.1 last year, up 26.1 percent year-on-year, the State Post Office said in a report on Saturday. .
The sub-indices for scope, popularity and trend of development rose 28.3%, 7.1% and 21.2% year on year, respectively, according to the bureau.
The delivery industry processed about 83.36 billion packages in 2020, up 31.2% from the figure in 2019, according to the bureau.
The express delivery industry is expected to process more than 100 billion packages in 2021, and its operating revenue will exceed 1,000 billion yuan (about $ 154.6 billion), according to office data.
Compiled on the basis of data from the delivery services of major logistics companies, the Development Index reflects business activities and overall trends in the country’s delivery industry.
