Delivery of central heating boilers under pressure: ‘Inconvenient, so for the winter’

And director Martin Hoekstra of heating installer ST/Warmte feels that pressure immediately. “It’s a challenge. We still sell central heating boilers, but it’s just like the old days at the greengrocer: if strawberries are in season, you can sell them, but otherwise not.”

Because Hoekstra is dependent on large manufacturers, such as Vaillant, Remeha and Nefit, but they have not always been able to deliver in recent months, so he has to make do with the type or brands of boilers that are still available.

Stocks

His customers have not noticed this yet, because Hoekstra has been able to get parts and boilers from other warehouses in Europe. When asked, Nefit informs them that they are working with all their might to keep the stock level.

Despite this, however, it remains to be seen whether installations and equipment will be delivered on time. For example, more and more people have ordered a heat pump to the gas bill down to get. Hoekstra: “We can only install most hybrid heat pumps in mid-February. So people who want a heat pump because of the higher energy prices will not benefit from the longer delivery times.”

According to Techniek Nederland, there is no unrest, but the chip shortage is immediately noticeable. And a harsh winter or not, manufacturers and installers have to do everything they can so that people are not left out in the cold this winter.
