About the attack he told the newspaper “ Irish Times ” that he acted “out of a fatherly instinct” without thinking as soon as he saw that children were involved. “I stopped my motorcycle and used my helmet as a weapon to make him stop.”
Dublin hero on riots: ‘It makes no sense at all’
Caio Benicio, a father of two originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, moved to Ireland in December 2022. After his heroic act, he told the Irish Times he was shocked at the riots on Dublin’s streets that began after the knife attack. “It doesn’t make any sense at all. I know that anti-immigrant groups were involved in the protest. And I, as a migrant, was the one who helped hold back the attacker.”
