Delivery bottlenecks: Graz plumber’s shop goes bankrupt by millions

There are three insolvencies around the Hammer sheet metal works in Graz. In addition to the company, the shareholder Gernot Hammer and the sister company Niro Tech Grebien GmbH are also insolvent.

The reasons for the insolvency of the two companies are different. As a result of the Covid crisis, the sheet metal business experienced a significant increase in material costs and delivery problems. The various orders could no longer be processed to cover costs. Adjustments to the workforce were made too late.

In the case of Niro Tech Grebien, the insolvency lies in miscalculations and complaints. Here, too, there were delivery problems with stainless steel. In addition, Gernot Hammer himself has to file for bankruptcy as a sole proprietor, since he has assumed liability for the companies mentioned.

According to information from KSV1870 and AKV, the total liabilities amount to around 7.3 million euros. 610,000 euros went to Niro Tech Grebien, 3.9 million euros to Spenglerei Hammer and 2.8 million euros to Gernot Hammer. On the assets side there are 2.4 million euros, divided into 190,000 euros at Niro Tech Grebien, 347,000 euros at Spenglerei Hammer and 1.76 million euros at Gernot Hammer. The sheet metal shop is to be closed as part of the insolvency proceedings. Niro Tech Grebien should be excused and continued.

Around 121 creditors are affected by the insolvencies. 16 employees at the Hammer plumbing workshop will probably lose their jobs. Four employees at Niro Tech Grebien have to worry about their jobs.

In the insolvency cases of Niro Tech Grebien and Gernot Hammer, the Graz lawyer Arno Lerchbaumer was appointed insolvency administrator. In the case of the Hammer plumber’s workshop, Harald Schlager takes over the insolvency administration.
