Deliveries of the five largest laptop manufacturers fell by more than 30%

According to Digitimes Research, in January of this year, total shipments of the five largest laptop manufacturers fell by more than 30%. The reason for this was several factors at once, including the ongoing outbreak of coronavirus, as well as a seasonal decrease in demand.

Experts note that another important factor that influenced the decline in laptop supplies is the period of the New Year holidays, during which manufacturers significantly reduced production.

Thanks to good sales in both the corporate and consumer segments, Dell has managed to take a leading position in the ranking of laptop suppliers. Following Dell, Lenovo is located, the sales volume of which was supported by a high level of demand in the Chinese market on the eve of the New Year holidays. HP, which previously occupied first place, fell to third place in January. The top five largest manufacturers of laptops in January also included Acer and Asus.

According to analysts, the outbreak of coronavirus, due to which many factories of large companies were stopped, will hit notebook manufacturers hard. Already in January, the supply of laptops of the three leading manufacturers decreased by 32%. Although the outlook is generally negative, the report notes that Inventec, a laptop company, has received a large number of orders for HP consumer models.
