Delhi Downpour: heavy Rain adn Strong Winds Lash National Capital

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued warnings of severe weather, predicting thunderstorms, hail, and meaningful rainfall for the 27th and 28th, a forecast that proved accurate.
At 7:23 am on December 27th, the temperature in Delhi registered a chilly 13 degrees Celsius. The IMD forecast anticipates a high of 20 degrees Celsius and a low of 12 degrees Celsius on Friday, with rain continuing for at least two more days. Air Quality Remains a Concern
While the air quality index (AQI) showed slight improvement on Thursday, Delhi’s air quality remains categorized as “very poor,” according to the Central Pollution Control Board. Although Stage IV measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) were revoked on Tuesday following an improvement, Stages I, II, and III remain in effect.
Cold Wave Sweeps Across North India
The IMD issued warnings of hailstorms across several northern states, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.Madhya Pradesh is also expected to experience similar conditions on December 27th and 28th. “Temperatures are expected to decline by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in northern states as heavy snowfall is expected in the western Himalayan region on December 27th and 28th,” the IMD warned.
The severe weather impacting Delhi highlights the unpredictable nature of winter weather patterns and underscores the importance of preparedness for extreme conditions. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.
