The stores of Delhaize, Colruyt and the Collect & Go collection points will close on Friday at 8 PM instead of 9 PM for the next four weeks. This is the result of the ban on the sale of alcohol after 8 pm, one of the corona measures that has been in force for a month since Monday.

Delhaize and Colruyt make the decision for organizational reasons and to reduce the pressure on employees. ‘This is also clearer for our customers,’ says Colruyt.
The 248 Colruyt supermarkets will only close earlier on Fridays, the opening hours will remain unchanged on the other days (8.30 am – 8 pm). The same applies to the more than 200 Collect & Go collection points. “When the measure regarding the ban on selling alcohol expires after 8 pm, the Colruyt stores will be open again until 9 pm on Friday,” emphasizes the retailer.
Delhaize’s 128 own supermarkets are also normally open until 9 pm on Fridays. They close at 8 p.m. until November 13. On other days, the opening hours (8 am-8pm) remain unchanged. The announcement also does not relate to Delhaize’s other store formats: AD Delhaize, Proxy Delhaize, Shop & Go. This concerns independent operators who have to decide for themselves what to do.
Carrefour, whose shops are also open until 9 p.m. on Friday, will make a decision on Wednesday morning about how the alcohol sales ban will be dealt with.
