Gaza: Hamas released 17 hostages, including 13 Israelis, under the ceasefire agreement. Israel also freed 39 Palestinians who were held captive. Hamas said any delay in bringing aid to Gaza would delay the release of the hostages. Both sides have released the hostages as per the ceasefire agreement.
The 39 Palestinians who were imprisoned and released by Israel received a huge welcome in the country. Hundreds of people came to see the freed Palestinians. Locals along with their family members came to receive them. Very emotional moments were seen in those who were there at that time.
The second batch released by Hamas included 13 Israeli citizens and four Thai citizens. The Israel Defense Forces also confirmed the release of the hostages. Those who were freed have been admitted to the hospital.
On the 49th day after the start of the war, there was a temporary relief. A four-day temporary ceasefire in Gaza came into effect yesterday morning. Hamas released a group of women and children first. Israel released 24 Palestinian women and 15 children.
Hamas has released 12 more Thai nationals who were not part of the peace deal. Hamas’s explanation is that the release of the Thai citizens is not part of the peace agreement, but in the name of humanitarian considerations. Israel will release 150 Palestinians in four days and Hamas will release 50 hostages in return. 30 of them are children and 20 are women.
