Delayed Treatment, 3 DHF Patients in Pamekasan Died

PAMEKASAN, KOMPAS.com – A total of three residents in the Regency Pakistan, East Java, died of an attack Dengue fever Dengue (DBD). All three died due to delay in being treated by medical personnel in Pamekasan Regency.

The acting Head of the Pamekasan District Health Office, Syaifuddin, explained that the number of dengue cases in Pamekasan Regency until January 19, 2022 reached 43 cases. Of these cases, three patients died.

“Those who died were due to being late being referred to a public health service,” said Syaifuddin when confirmed by telephone, Friday (22/1/2022).

Currently, Syaifuddin said that the remaining 40 cases were being treated by the medical team and their condition was still mild.

According to Syaifuddin, when entering the beginning of the rainy season, the number of dengue cases is always high. The high rainfall and the lack of public awareness of environmental cleanliness are the main causes of the high number of cases.

Socialization to the public on the importance of burying objects that have the potential to become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and regularly draining water reservoirs has been intensively carried out in people’s homes through health educators.

“We always socialize to residents. However, there are residents who neglect to clean the environment in the rainy season,” added Syaifuddin.

Along with the high number of cases, his party ordered 21 puskesmas in all sub-districts to carry out fogging or fumigating mosquito nests into people’s homes, public service areas and offices.

“We have done fogging this past week. This activity will continue until all targets are completed,” he said.

Syaifuddin explained that people who have a high fever above 38 degrees Celsius and have not recovered even though they have been treated for three days in a row are the characteristics of a DHF patient.

Therefore, Syaifuddin asked people with these characteristics to be brought to the nearest health service center so that they could be treated quickly.
