In addition, the passenger explains that the wagon which was to tow the train came from Juvisy, that is to say 3 km from the breakdown. “We were stranded while waiting for the train, and an SNCF agent clearly explained to me that he could not disrupt RER traffic,” said Zaïd.
Nevertheless, the good mood was there. “There was a lot of atmosphere and joie de vivre in Auvergne with music and people dancing,” says Zaïd.
This type of delay is very frequent on the Paris-Clermont-Ferrand line and weighs on the daily lives of users. Like Zaïd who had to take a half-day RTT Monday morning and warn his boss the same morning of his mishap.
Fed up with regulars
This penalizing situation for travelers is not an isolated case. There is general disagreement with the very poor quality of the rail service between Paris and the capital of Arverne.
Claude Borgetto, a high school teacher and at the University of Clermont Auvergne, expresses his dissatisfaction. “I continue to go to my doctor in Paris where I lived for 10 years, but the frequent delays on this train line prevent me from honoring my medical appointments punctually. “
Charlotte Andrieux, student in Paris Dauphine, indicates that the regular delays on the train line impact his daily life. “We have to anticipate delays and cancellations”.
The student specifies that the Wi-Fi is constantly blowing and that it bothers her to take her online courses on Teams.
“Cars are uncomfortable, but we are dependent on this means of transport because the offers of buses, carpooling or airlines have price-performance ratio just as deplorable, ”says Charlotte.
Possible improvement in 2023
The SNCF apologized for the delay but users seem tired of this situation which does not change.
The arrival of new rolling stock could slightly improve the quality of travel on the Clermont-Paris line from 2023.
Nevertheless, Clermont-Ferrand will remain one of the rare French metropolises not to be connected to the capital by a High Speed Line.
