Delay and issues in sales of new PC handheld Steam Deck

Shortly after the start of the sale, the number of complaints up on the Downdetector.com website. Users who accessed the Steam website or access the Steam store through the app just after 7 a.m. were experiencing error messages.

The reservation process for the Steam Deck itself is also not exactly easy. Consumers can sometimes not load the reservation page properly. If they do get through, they run into problems at every step of the ordering process.

Some of the company’s customers have now temporarily blocked the ability to make purchases due to “too many purchase attempts”. About an hour later, sales seem to be slowing down.

The reservations for the new Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 led to similar problems last year. It is still very difficult to buy one of these game consoles.

Handheld for your Steam library

The new handheld was received with great enthusiasm when it was announced yesterday. That now seems to be reflected in a stampede on the Steam website.

Steam Deck should provide gamers with the ability to play all the games they have in their Steam library on PC, including the blockbuster titles. Visually, the game console is very similar to the Nintendo Switch, with sticks and buttons on either side of a 7-inch touchscreen.

The Deck was available today in three variants: a budget edition with 64 GB storage, a standard version with a 256 GB SSD drive and a more expensive 512 GB edition. The handheld will probably be shipped to gamers in December. If you don’t have a reservation yet, you will have to wait until early next year.
