Delafé: “My thing is to create songs over a very slow fire … with that chup, chup” | Radio Alicante | Present

Delafé will be one of the great performances that we can see, this Saturday, November 20 in Alicante, within the event ‘La Estación del Encuentro’ that Meet and Live and Mahou organize in the Espacio Seneca, in the old bus station in Alicante. In the Hoy Por Hoy Alicante program, we chatted with Oscar D´Aniello, leader of the Delafé group, about the concert he is planning to hold at said event.

With many changes in his line-up since its inception, Oscar D´Aniello, it seems that he has finally found his way and is showing it with each new album he releases. His latest work ‘Hay un lugar’ was published at the end of 2019, so the great presentation tour was truncated by the Covid -19 pandemic, but little by little everything is returning to normal and the group is coming out to present it wherever they are called. Oscar told us that he usually does the tour at the moment with piano, voice and percussion box. “In Alicante we will go in acoustic format, reviewing the best hits, the voice of Andrea Mir will come with me.”

Taking his time to create the songs, the album ‘Hay un lugar’ took three years of work before it was released. D’Aniello told us that the album had to be completely re-recorded since he did not like the result of the first recording and until he did not add everything to it, he did not want to release it. He also told us that he is more than cooking songs over a very low heat. “I’m not a pastry machine, I’m more about cooking songs like a broth with that chup, chup.”

The album is a self-released work, and that part takes it quite well “everything is freer”. The vocalist, told us that having to adjust to the times of the record companies and that “can make you have to deliver the ‘products’ on specific dates and sometimes that costs and you can get things that you are completely convinced of” .

“The Great Wave, is a subject that has worked very well with word of mouth and I believed in it a lot. I was four months to compose it “

The album has had great collaborations such as Soleá Morente, Carlos Sadness, La Bien Querida or Marta Rodés. D´Aniello, explained to us that he had never made a song for that person to sing. His process is to make the song and the chorus and once there he was already looking for a voice that would fit him. He also told us that he had been very lucky that all of them had said yes to participate. “It makes you feel very happy to share such a thing. I have luxury collaborations and they have contributed a lot ”.

“Dan Hammon, Ramir Martínez and Dani Acedo have also contributed their ‘great sand desert’ to this project”

In relation to a future Oscar, he is already working on new material for Delafé, he told us that he has an ultra-long 20 minute song that he has been working on for a year. “That really is a Bohemiam Rhapsody, which is going a little,” he pointed out with a laugh.

Delafé will be performing in Alicante this Saturday, November 20 at 8:30 p.m. at ‘La Estación del Encuentro’.
