The German champions lost to the Krefeld Penguins on Thursday evening (November 4th, 2021) after a weak performance with 2: 5 (0: 0, 1: 2, 1: 3). In the table, Berlin is third behind Adler Mannheim and EHC Munich.

Giovanni Fiore and Marcel Noebels scored for the capital city, who were unable to exploit numerous opportunities and allowed themselves to be countered again and again. In front of 5,732 spectators in the arena at Ostbahnhof, the hosts found it difficult to get into the game because they had to play outnumbered for a long time in the opening minutes. Only in the course of the first third of the season were the Berliners a bit more powerful, but the Krefeld team kept causing danger and took the lead after the first break with a goal from Maciej Rutkowski.

Krefeld convinces with a good defense

Against the concentrated defending guests, the capital city continued to have big problems. Fiore managed to equalize, but the former polar bear professional Laurin Braun scored the second Krefeld goal shortly afterwards. In the final section, Eduard Lewandowski extended Krefeld’s lead. Noebels was able to shorten again, but again Braun and Thomas Olsen made two late counter-goals for the ultimately clear success of the guests.
