(n. 183/2024) I am 467 and they are also the healthcare that will come: we are talking about freshmen of the eight degree courses of the School of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Padua, teaching center of Trevisowho were welcomed today with a ceremony dedicated to them. An exciting event this morning, held in the Provincial auditorium, which well represents the synergy undertaken between the Veneto Region, the University of Padua and Ulss 2 Marca Trevigiana on the topic of training healthcare workers.
There are currently eight degree courses in the School of Medicine and Surgery active in Treviso which in total, considering all years of the course, involve 1358 students: Medicine and Surgery, Health Care, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Obstetrics, Audioprosthetic Techniques, Medical Radiology Imaging Techniques and Radiotherapy and, from this academic year, also Biomedical Laboratory Techniques. Last year there were around 1200 students who attended formed in the Treviso offices, today they have therefore increased, objectively demonstrating a positive signal.
Numerous authorities were present at the welcoming ceremony for the freshmen: the Health Councilor of the Veneto Region, Manuela Lanzarin, the president of the V Regional Commission, councilor Sonia Brescacin, the Strategic Direction Ulss 2, the vice-president of the Province, Roberto Fava, the mayor of Treviso, Mario Conte, the vice-rector of the decentralized offices, prof Paolo Sambo, and the vice-rector of teaching, prof Marco Ferrante, delegated by the magnificent rector of the University of Padua who is absent due to concomitant institutional commitments, and the president of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, prof Marcello Rattazzi. Also present were the presidents of the Healthcare Professions Degree Courses, the coordinators and teaching tutors, some Ulss 2 managers and coordinators and, furthermore, the representatives of the professional associations.
During his speech the general director of Ulss 2, Francesco Benazzifocused on the value of training for a future job in healthcare and, addressing the students, said: “You have chosen a life mission. The training path you are starting today is essential to becoming professionals in a delicate and complex sector such as healthcare. It will equip you with the technical and human skills necessary to assist people, learning to make accurate diagnoses and make responsible decisions. Your training, in a constantly evolving sector, will never stop, and you must be able to work in a team, always keeping the well-being of patients at the centre. With passion and commitment, you can make a real difference in people’s lives. Welcome and have a good journey.”
L’councilor Manuela Lanzarin, in his speech, commenting on today’s meeting, he reiterated: “An important moment that seals the great investment launched by the Region in the Treviso area with the aim of creating a sort of widespread University of Venetian knowledge, and where for some years now , we contribute to specializing doctors and professionals through the close interconnection between high-level teaching, research and assistance”.
At the opening of the ceremony, greetings were read from president Luca Zaia who, even if from a distance, wanted to welcome the new students, wishing them a good start in this training journey. On this occasion, the governor also congratulated the winners of the literary contest “Words…Care spaces”created with the aim of giving voice and collecting the stories of students who attend university health training courses: “An opportunity – declared Zaia – to promote writing, because words are the basis of our knowledge and allow us to improve ourselves and the society we live in. It is important to give voice to life experiences as a source of growth and personal development.”
An exciting video curated by the students preceded the award ceremony of the contest, now in its third edition, dedicated this year to “Wellbeing and movement as indicators of health”, with two narrative threads “Lives in movement: stories of health and well-being” and ” Add years to life or life to years?”. Pietro Baldin and Eleonora Franzoni obtained the first prize, the second was awarded to Francesca Moretto and Desiree Vittoria while the third was won by Adelaide Bellomo and Giada Cherubin. Even the Imoco Volley athletes, not having been able to attend because they were involved in a training camp, wanted to dedicate a video to them.
