Degradation in Salerno, Codacons dossier

The critical issues

The document – ​​Codacons reports – highlights the decline in urban quality: dirt, very little attention to greenery, the abandonment of the historic center, now a no man’s land, and of the seafront. The dossier presented to the mayor shows the lack of care for city streets, dirty and with weeds everywhere, the invasiveness of ethnic businesses in the squares of the old center, the degradation caused by graffiti, the surrender of the Municipality in the maintenance of the Town Hall. And then, two more facts: the neglect of the park Trenchinaugurated with great fanfare in April 2021 and immediately left without care of the flowerbeds and in the hands of vandals, as if to give voice to the harsh words of Leo Longanesi: ‘Italy prefers inauguration to maintenance’. The proposals

Codacons also presented three proposals to mark a change of direction: first of all, cleaning the streets with fire hydrants, conservative restoration interventions on municipal monuments, enhancement of the urban space with flower boxes and bicycle racks.
