Degradation in household morale confirmed, according to University of Michigan monthly survey By Reuters

(Reuters) – US consumer sentiment deteriorated in May, final results from the University of Michigan’s monthly survey confirmed on Friday.

Its confidence index fell to 82.9 from 88.3 in April. This figure has been revised up slightly from the initial estimate of 82.8 published two weeks ago but it is in line with the Reuters consensus.

The component of consumers’ judgment on their current situation decreased to 89.4 from 97.2 the previous month.

The outlook fell to 78.8 from 82.7.
