Düsseldorf New addition to the Düsseldorf ice hockey club: Striker Jerry D’Amigo comes from the USA and will strengthen the DEG team in the future. The American is initially committed for one year.
The Düsseldorfer EG from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) has signed striker Jerry D’Amigo. The 30-year-old American receives a one-year contract. The eight-time German champion announced on Wednesday.

D’Amigo gained experience in the DEL in 100 games (29 goals, 38 assists) for ERC Ingolstadt. There he was one of the public favorites, as DEG writes in its message. From the US NHL, D’Amigo brings experience from 31 games.

“Jerry D’Amigo is a strong and enthusiastic striker with a good shot,” says Niki Mondt, DEG’s sporting director, about the American’s commitment. “He’s very team-oriented and works in both directions. He also has a lot of experience and a good character. ”With his emotional demeanor, D’Amigo has the potential to become one of the public favorites of the coming season in Düsseldorf as well.

Born in 1991 in Binghamton near New York, Jerry D’Amigo learned to play ice hockey there. As a teenager, he played several times in the US U17 and U18 national team. He was world champion with the U18 team in 2009, and again with the U20 team in 2010. As a professional athlete, he started with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL. In the American Hockey League he had a total of 401 missions. He hit the gate 93 times and assisted in 111 goals.

He made his NHL debut in 2013 with the Maple Leafs team. In the highest US hockey league, he got one hit and two assists in 22 games. The following season he moved to the Buffalo Sabers.

For the first time in Europe, D’Amigo played in the Finnish first division for Tampereen Ilves and Kalpa in 2016. In 2018 he switched to the DEL at ERC Ingolstadt. Most recently, he returned to the United States for one season. In Düsseldorf, the 1.80 meter tall and 91 kilogram striker was given the number 9 on his back.
