Dusseldorf. (PM DEG) The Düsseldorfer EG has strengthened itself on the defensive again.

Kyle Cumiskey is moving from the North American AHL to the Rhine. The 34-year-old defender comes to Düsseldorf with recommendations for 154 NHL games with ten goals and 27 assists for the Colorado Avalanche and the Chicago Blackhawks. In Chicago, the Canadian was also involved in winning the Stanley Cup of the Blackhawks in 2015 with nine playoff appearances (out of 23 games).

Sports director Niki Mondt: “As announced, we wanted to go even further in defense. Kyle Cumiskey will strengthen our roster and our defense. He is strong at running and playing. Kyle has a lot of experience and has played in Europe too. After a few difficult years with injuries, he was able to play ice hockey free of symptoms until the lockdown last season. Kyle is fit and eager to start the new season with DEG! “

Cumiskey is expected in Germany on Monday. The left-handed shooter must first be in quarantine and will therefore miss the start of the 2020/21 PENNY DEL season at the Kölner Haien. He will receive a contract with DEG until summer 2021. His shirt number is still to be determined.
