DEG gets a point against Krefeld – Eishockey.net

After two wins in a row, the Düsseldorfer EG suffered a setback against the KEV. Although DEG looked like the sure winner in their own stadium for a long time, KEV finally won 4:3 after extra time. A goal just before the end brought the Krefeld team back into the game in good time.

On Tuesday evening, the second part of the “derby week” was scheduled for the Düsseldorf EG. After the first part on Sunday in Cologne deservedly went 3-0 to DEG, the self-confidence in the red and yellow was correspondingly high. The next step should be taken against Krefeld. And Düsseldorf went into the game with commitment and pressure. The disk went almost continuously towards the KEV case. So it wasn’t long before the red and yellow were allowed to celebrate on the ice for the first time. Victor Svensson finished after just two minutes after a great pass from Brendan O’Donnell. This is how the people of Düsseldorf had imagined it. The game splashed along a bit afterwards, but DEG was still visually superior and created chances. But a few minutes before the end of the first section, it was the black and yellow who found their way into the DEG goal out of nowhere. Alex Blank took advantage of a negligence in the Düsseldorf defense and gave Pantkowski no chance in goal.

The middle section painted a similar picture as the first 20 minutes. Again it was the red and yellow who acted with pressure in the direction of the opposing goal, but often did not reward themselves. In the end it was Tobi Eder who fired the disc beautifully with a slap shot into the corner after almost five minutes. Oleg Shilin in this case powerless. And the following phase was also reminiscent of the course of the game in the first third. DEG created chances, Krefeld stayed alert and dangerous – and again had the necessary luck on their side. Lucas Lessio, who likes to score against Düsseldorf anyway, equalized after about half the game. Something out of nowhere again. But the red and yellow just kept going – and took the lead again. By whom? Of course DEG top scorer O’Donnell, who was also represented on the scoreboard. We went into the break with a one-goal lead.

The last third really won’t go down in history. The KEV, which should have played with pressure in the direction of the DEG goal, couldn’t really do it, the DEG slowed down and didn’t really want to. As a result, not much happened. When all the players in the hall actually agreed that the red and yellow had three more derby points to their credit, the rude awakening came. The stadium clock showed 1:47 when Kulda shot the puck right into the heart of DEG. 3:3! So it went into overtime. And it wasn’t even a minute before Sabulic turned the game completely upside down and secured the extra points for Krefeld. Or as head coach Harold Kreis said at the press conference: “We got one point and lost two points.”
