Finally new faces! In the coming week, the Düsseldorf EG will start dealing with the teams from the southern group. However, traveling is not yet the order of the day, initially the DEG competes three times a week in the ISS DOME at home. It starts on Monday, March 22nd, 6.30 p.m., with the EHC Red Bull Munich. Two days later, Wednesday, March 24th, 8:30 p.m., the Straubing Tigers are guests in Düsseldorf, before the other Tigers from Nuremberg stop by on Friday, March 26th, 7:30 p.m.
The duels with the south start with a blast for the red-yellows. EHC Red Bull Munich, the league leaders from the canceled 2019/20 season, invites you to dance. For the Munich team, the current season is largely tailor-made. They are in second place in their group, a proud 17 points ahead of a non-playoff place. But they are probably not completely satisfied, the gap to front runner Mannheim is also a proud twelve points. As expected, the EHC is dangerous on the offensive. Head coach Don Jackson’s team has scored 90 hits so far – second place in the DEL. The last meeting of the two teams so far, the Munich team won just 3: 1 in the MagentaSport Cup.
At a time when everyone is suffering from the global pandemic, the Straubing Tigers have been particularly poor. After an outstanding preseason, the team of head coach Tom Pokel should have played the Champions Hockey League, in the end the competition was canceled. And somehow that seems to have affected the team. In the current season Straubing is “only” fifth, fighting for fourth playoff place with Schwenningen and Augsburg. Bayern are particularly poor in attack. 63 goals come in 24 games, only Krefeld and Nuremberg are weaker.
Speaking of Nuremberg. For the Ice Tigers, the 2020/21 season is a season to forget. Five wins face 20 defeats. Both the offensive, only 57 goals in the 25 games played so far, and the defense, a whopping 101 goals against (13th place, ahead of Krefeld), are the problem areas for the Nuremberg team. After all: In the first encounter with the northern group there was a clear 7: 3 win for the Ice Tigers against the Iserlohn Roosters. For the red and yellow, there will also be a reunion on Friday with Luke Adam, who had switched to the Ice Tigers before the season.

For the home game marathon, DEG can fall back on almost the same staff as in the previous encounter against Cologne.
