Defusing World War II Bomb – Evacuation complete
The operational measures in connection with the defusing of the World War II bomb on Zwickauer Strasse are ongoing.
Around 1:50 p.m., the emergency services completed the evacuation. It went smoothly. Around 400 people affected have been accommodated in the emergency shelters at the Dresden Exhibition Centre.
Police used a helicopter to patrol the security area. Explosive ordnance disposal specialists will now begin to defuse the bomb.
During the defusing, the security area remains locked. Motorists are asked to drive around the area.
