Deflation in May of 0.1%

In May, deflation was registered in the country on a monthly basis, according to the data of the National Statistical Institute. Compared to April, the consumer price index was minus 0.1%.

Thus, annual inflation decreases to 10.1%.

Year-to-date inflation (May 2023 vs. December 2022) is 2.8%, and average annual inflation for the period June 2022 – May 2023 vs. June 2021 – May 2022 is 15.8%.

Price reductions in May were recorded in transport, communications, housing, utilities and the entertainment industry.
