Known for its many sports clubs, its carnival, its municipal swimming pool, the city of Bouaké in the center of Côte d’Ivoire is reborn with “Défis-Talents”, a cultural and sports entertainment competition which puts in competition all the 54 districts of the city during school holidays. Its first edition organized from August 18 to 20, 2023 in Bouaké by Pulaarku Régie around dance, music and the maracana made it possible to detect many talents. which contribute to the advent of the new Bouaké according to Amadou Koné, sponsor of the event.
“Winning together” the key word of the event and “I love Bouaké” the theme of music and dance, are the themes of the “talent challenges” competition which put ten (10) districts of Bouaké in August 18 to 20, 2023.
According to the Pulaarku event management, which organizes the event, “Challenges-Talents” is a framework that allows young people to take ownership and get involved in the development of their cities.
Bouaké, a pioneering city of culture with the “Carnival of Bouaké” or “Miss Bouaké” ancestor of Miss Côte d’Ivoire, will finally regain its former glory, underlines Amadou Koné, sponsor of the event.
Three disciplines on the program: music, maracana and dance scored respectively out of 75 points, 15 points and 10 points, i.e. 100 points in total. After the eliminatory and final phases of the sports and musical disciplines on August 18 and 19, the final of the Dance discipline took place on Sunday August 20 at the old Bouaké stadium in the presence of Minister Amadou Koné, sponsor of the event.
At the end of the 2 pieces (compulsory and of your choice), and after the general classification of these 10 districts competing for these three disciplines (music, maracana, dance), the children from Kôkô won the super Prize of this first edition with 87.99 points. They are followed by their comrades from Broukro. 3ᵉ place went to the young people of Air France.
According to Mrs. Diallo Karidjata, CEO of Pulaarku Régie and director of radio Savannah, an official ceremony to award the prizes to the winners is scheduled for September 9, 2023 at radio Savannah. “The winner wins a full orchestra offered by Minister Amadou Koné, an envelope for the participants, jerseys, balloons,” announced Mrs. Diallo Karidjata.
While the “Défis-Talents” competition allowed young people to express their know-how, it was an opportunity for them to submit a few grievances.
Thus, beyond the many donations in kind and in cash made by the sponsor, each participating district presented its needs. For many, this means setting up a youth center in the neighbourhoods, opening play areas or creative spaces to allow them to continue to meet up to train and talk about the development of their neighborhoods and their talents. The next edition is scheduled for August 02, 03, 04, 2024.
