Earlier this week, 2K Games fully unveiled Mafia: Trilogy, and also released Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition. The first is a remaster; the second is a publication with all the additions. And all would be well, but Mafia II: Definitive Edition was full of bugs.
Players complain about numerous glitches – including pop-ups and performance that makes the game look like a slide show – on all platforms. However, most of them appear on consoles, mainly on the PlayStation 4.
In the video below, for example, during a trip on a rainy night, strange lighting artifacts appear (apparently due to a malfunction when drawing lightning), which simultaneously leads to a drop in performance to about 5 frames / s.
And here the environment details pop up just a stone’s throw from the player.
On YouTube there are many more videos of various kinds of glitches from Mafia II: Definitive Edition. So far, 2K Games has not commented on the situation. We add that the remaster is not responsible for Hangar 13, but D3t Ltd., which also helped in the development of The Room and Shenmue I & II.
