Energy is needed by humans to carry out various activities. Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but it can be converted into other forms of energy to help human life, for example energy changes chemical to be hot.

Before knowing examples of changes in chemical energy into heat, we need to first know what chemical energy is

Energy Chemical energy is the energy produced by stable chemical compounds resulting from the interaction of electrons between molecules or between atoms.

Chemical energy is defined as the potential of a chemical substance undergoing a chemical reaction and then turning into another substance. The form of chemical energy exists only in energy storage devices.

Some of the chemical energy storage devices that are around us are food, batteries, and gasoline. The breaking of chemical bonds involves energy, which can be absorbed or evolved from chemical systems.

One example of chemical energy is when our bodies digest food. The journey of food from the mouth, esophagus, stomach, and intestines is accompanied by many chemical reactions. After being digested, comes the energy that we use for activities.

Definition Thermal energy is energy that can produce heat for human use. Thermal energy can be converted into electrical energy and chemical energy.

Some examples of heat energy sources are the sun, geothermal, and fire. Solar thermal energy can be used by plants for photosynthesis and by humans to provide lighting and as solar electricity.

  1. The heat generated by kerosene and gas stoves. That kerosene and gas is chemical energy that turns into fire, which is heat energy.

  2. Hot produced by the human body comes from the food consumed. Food is chemical energy which is then converted into body heat, which is used to protect the body from cold weather.
  3. The chemical reaction that occurs when a candle is burned will produce hot combustion gases consisting of hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide.
