Ahead of the meeting between Castelnau Basket and Roanne this Sunday, December 1 at 3:30 p.m. at the Castelnau sports center, our title met Julien Corrin, the coach of the Castelnauviennes.
What is your assessment of the start of the season?
Obviously from an accounting perspective we could always do better since we are in balance, but in the end it is even a good result as we have been, and we still are, undermined by injuries. Despite this, the group lives well and above all works well, and for the moment all the matches that had to be taken have been taken. We are the 2nd best defense in the group! We could even have regrets because two or even three matches could have been different. We can play everyone in the eye, proof of this is our last trip to the leader. The positive was the integration of young players originally planned for the reserve team, and this is important for the seasons to come.
What are your goals for the future?
The objectives are simple, to continue to see a group united and happy to meet again with this desire to work which should motivate us. The pool is very dense this season and so you will have to be ready for each meeting to avoid going down at the end of the season. We are one victory away from 2nd place and paradoxically we are also one defeat away from the relegation zone. My goal is to be able to maintain ourselves while continuing to give minutes and therefore experience at this level to the young people who will be managers in the years to come.
Beyond the first team, the entire women’s sector is being built…
Yes, I obviously pushed this project and the results are rather positive. We have a complete sector with quality U13Fs, U15Fs at Occitanie level, U18Fs who can double for some with the PNF and above all many young people who can benefit from an increasingly optimal training structure with coaches. qualified and truly sensitive to this development project for this sector. I am therefore delighted for the club that I love very much, and for the development of our local area.
