However, he said Russian forces could now easily repel such attacks thanks to a “new program update”.

“Now we have no problem detecting, tracking and destroying them,” he said.
He added that his unit has shot down about 10 HIMARS missiles, four of them in the last month.
After the start of Russian military operations in Ukraine, the United States has provided Ukraine with a vast arsenal of up to approximately $19 billion.
Washington has pledged to support Kiev with 38 HIMARS and related munitions since November 23, according to the US Department of Defense.
On Thursday, the Pentagon awarded Lockheed Martin a contract worth $431 million to produce the HIMARS launcher to “meet an urgent need to support” the US military and Washington’s foreign partners. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of 2025.
Russian officials have repeatedly warned the West against pumping weapons into Ukraine, arguing that doing so will only prolong the conflict.
Moscow also said that Kiev has used HIMARS missiles to carry out attacks on housing blocks and other civilian infrastructure, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries in the Donbass and others that have recently been incorporated into Russia’s former Ukrainian territory.
