Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto Considers Malaysia His Second Hometown

Jakarta

Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto said Malaysia was his second hometown. This was conveyed by Prabowo while attending a national gathering event at the Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta.

Initially Prabowo appreciated the invitation of the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Mosque Youth Communication Board (BKPRMI) Said Aldi Al Idrus. Prabowo revealed that he often met Said Aldi in Malaysia.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to express my highest appreciation to the leadership of BKPRMI,” said Prabowo in his speech at the Istiqlal Mosque, Thursday (18/5/2023).

Prabowo said Said Aldi was a figure trying to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Malaysia. The close relationship between the two countries, said Prabowo, is something that continues to be fought for.

“Indeed, this is what we want, what we are fighting for, namely the best possible relationship between two allied countries, two nations that do have kinship ties, cultural ties, and very close ancestral ties,” he said.

“We (Indonesia) and Malaysia are actually like brothers and sisters. I was also part of that because I grew up in Malaysia when I was small,” he said.

Prabowo then called Malaysia his second hometown. When he was in Malaysia, Prabowo felt like he was returning home.

“So for me, Malaysia is my second hometown. If I go back to Malaysia, it feels like going back home,” he said.
