A series of challenges await <a href="http://www.world-today-news.com/the-lincoln-lawyer-has-a-movie-and-is-on-prime-video/" title="'The Lincoln Lawyer' has a movie and is on Prime Video”>Mickey Haller in season 3
I haven’t read any reviews, but I caught my eye on some online comments about it third season Of Defense lawyer (The Lincoln Lawyer), landed on Netflix for a few days.
The series is based on novels by Michael Connelly – the same author from whom another series of great interest was taken, Bosch – left us in the second season with a murder whose author had not been identified. It wasn’t difficult to predict, given the narrative thread, that this season would happen focused on that case. Yet, I have read comments along the lines of “the quality is dropping” or “there is a lack of originality”.
Given that the quality of Connelly, being the series based on the novels about the defense lawyer Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo on TV, in the role played by Matthew McConaughey in the cinema), does not decline and does not lack originality, this third season is full of news e di successful subplots. Although the main case, as always, always remains one.
Hunt for the killer
Mickey cared a lot about Glory Days (Fiona Rene), stage name of Gloria Dayton. The girl had known Mickey for some time, he had helped her on several occasions, even to get out of the drug tunnel.
Between the two there was a friendship which Mickey believed to be sincere. But now, we find, he has to accept the fact that Gloria she had lied to him.
L’psychological impact of the case on Mickey’s life is important. As well as Julian La Cosse’s (Devon Graye) request to defend him after his arrest for Gloria’s murder. Mickey learns that Gloria herself told Julian to call Mickey if needed, but the difficulty of defending someone accused of killing her friend puts Mickey in crisis. A growing crisis episode after episode, until he even states that he is thinking of giving up everything.
Michael Haller, who lives to be a lawyer and who is known around town as “Lincoln Lawyer” (The Lincoln Lawyer, precisely) for the car he drives around Los Angeles, think about changing jobs.
If you know the character, you’ll have an idea of the severity of the obstacles Mickey faces in this third season to get this far.
While the indispensable Lorna (Becki Newton) and her husband Cisco (Angus Sampson), freshly married, return early from their honeymoon, returning to help Mickey with all his cases, Izzy (Jazz Raycole) tries to get her dance school project back on track, but she too will have to deal with unexpected events.
Le new entry
Left without a driver, and threatened With the implications of Gloria’s case involving Mexican drug cartels, Mickey needs someone to drive him around and keep him safe. To that end, join the cast Eddie (Allyn Moriyon), the former babysitter of Haley (Krista Warner), Mickey’s daughter.
Eddie, who the lawyer remembered as “little Eddie” has grown up, put on muscles and has a black belt in karate. But Eddie is also a nice guy, full of funny contradictions and created to be loved by the public. The character of thealtra new entry of the season, the prosecutor Andrea Freeman (Yaya DaCosta), with whom Mickey has a difficult relationship to manage.
Defense lawyers, as we know, are frowned upon by the police and by a large part of public opinion, but the place where they think the worst of them is undoubtedly the Prosecutor’s Office. So the closeness between Mickey and Andrea poses a series of problems for the two secondary issues which will determine the outcome of their relationship.
And already then there would be enough material to avoid getting bored. Let’s add: a case from the past whose consequences return to torment Mickey and his attempted murderwith the consequent – and bizarre – “professional” bodyguards assigned to him and you will have the picture of the situation.
One episode after another, Defense Lawyer adds material and charactersmaking the investigations about Gloria’s murder more and more compelling. He adds, he adds… And then, unexpectedly, he takes away. Leaving us stunned and heartbroken.
The Lincoln Lawyer mantiene its quality unchangedin a third season that flows smoothly, dynamic and full of surpriseswithout ever getting boring and exponentially increasing the emotional load as the episodes pass, until the conclusion of the tenth with the finale.
Ted Humphrey (The Good Wife, Shark) e David E. Kelley (The Practice, Ally McBeal) once again sign a legal drama in which the characters contribute to the dynamism with their private lives, their affections, their fears, their past traumas.
The theme of relationships between fathers and children is fundamental in these 10 new episodes to be devoured in one go. Waiting, hopefully, to find Mickey & company again for a fourth season.
