The head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Alexey Danilov, had warned as tensions flared on the shared border with Russia.
Speaking to the Associated Press (AP) on Monday (1/31/2022), Alexey Danilov insisted that Ukrainian officials should review the peace deal to avoid the foundations of the Eastern European country collapsing.

“The fulfillment of the Minsk agreement means the destruction of the state. When it was signed under the barrel of a Russian gun, and Germany and France were watching, it was clear to all rational people that it was impossible to implement those documents,” he said.

According to Danilov, Western countries should not push Ukraine to enforce the current terms set out in the agreement.

“If they insist on fulfilling the Minsk agreement as it is, it will be very dangerous for our country,” he said.
