Defending the Fourth Transformation: Preventing the Return of Corruption and Deception in Mexico

Before Morena militants in Querétaro, Claudia Sheinbaum PardoNational Coordinator of Defense of the Fourth Transformation, stressed the importance of not allowing Mexico to return to being led by those who only defend the interests of a few, as she highlighted that this had great consequences for Mexican men and women.

”What did they leave the country? Poverty, inequality, debt, and now Calderón abroad talking about democracy, but with what moral authority? And now Zedillo comes to talk to us that the country’s democracy is at risk, and we answer him, democracy is the power of the people,’ he assured.

For this reason, he asserted that it is necessary to remind young people of the past of corruption and deception that Mexico experienced at the hands of actors and former presidents who today hide in the opposition and who only seek to recover their privileges, which is why he emphasized that it is It is vital to work in unity to prevent the return of those practices of the past that did so much damage to the people.

“We are not going to allow corruption to return, anti-democracy, electoral fraud to return, that is why here is democracy, here are freedoms, here is the defense of the people of Mexico and their well-being,” he added.

During her visit to Querétaro, the National Coordinator for the Defense of Transformation highlighted that the 4T movement fights for freedoms, for democracy, but also so that everyone can have access to the most fundamental rights.

“We fight for democracy and we also fight for freedoms, because the right wants to appropriate that word, the word freedom, but no, we fight for freedoms (…) Freedom also means being able to meet our needs, because It is false that those who do not have access to education, health and a good job have the same freedom as those who have the right to health, a good job at a decent salary,” he commented.

At the meeting, the militants joined in the cry of “Transformation”, while the National Coordinator for the Defense of Transformation highlighted the change in model that occurred since 2018, with the arrival of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

“We are not only going to consolidate the transformation, not only to defend what we have won, we are going to move forward, because we fight for a cause, or many causes, we want all Mexicans to have their rights, not the privileges of those who spoke to us before,” he reiterated.

For his part, the national leader of Morena, Mario Delgado, stated that everyone is welcome to the movement, since there are many Mexican men and women who agree with what is happening in the country.

“Dr. Sheinbaum has called on all of us, but also on all citizens to join the Fourth Transformation, free women and men who agree with what is happening in Mexico (…) Everyone is welcome to this movement,” he highlighted.

Finally, the coordinator of spokespersons and links with social organizations, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, called for unity between the militancy and the people of Mexico and criticized the opposition’s position for politically profiting from tragedies such as that of the state of Guerrero, after the passage of Hurricane Otis.

“We are non-violent, we call for unity, not only of the movement, of all the people, of the parties of the movement. From here we repudiate the scavenging behavior of the right that wants to profit from the tragedy in Guerrero,” he pointed out.
