JAKARTA – There are several groups a student from various campuses in Indonesia have uploaded photos depicting Garuda Indonesia on their social media accounts. Against a blue background, directly above the national symbol is written the phrase “Emergency Alert”.

The upload is a form of support for the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) No. 60/PUU-XXII/2024 regarding the requirements for candidates for regional heads in the 2024 Regional Head Elections.

Among the student groups that put up the emergency warning signs is the UI Student Executive Board (BEM). In his upload, the @bemui_official account wrote #KawalPutusanMK.

Yogyakarta State University (UNY) students did the same through their social media account @mahasiswauenyeh. In the upload, the students are preparing to take to the streets.

“With this, our students from the prospective teachers’ campus are ready to fight. “Even if the brutal hand of Sumaryanto tries to hinder us, we are not afraid!” read a written statement, Wednesday (21/8/2024).

“Come on, let’s get ready to organize UNY. The regime’s desire to control everything is increasingly evident. As prospective teachers, we can no longer be silent. Teacher salaries are still at stake, as prospective job candidates we are still being sought after by age. The president’s son at EH makes his job easier. This is not fair,” he wrote again.

Until 16.08 WIB, the BEM UI and UNY upload continued to receive positive responses from netizens. The BEM UI account seems to have been liked by 9,770 netizens with 487 comments.

Likewise, UNY students’ social media accounts received up to 9,515 likes, then were shared or reposted up to 2,893 times and 100 comments.
