Kochi: In the state junior football championship, Malappuram, the defending champions, started with a win. They beat Idukki 6-0 in the first match of Group C.
Akfal Ajaz scored a hat-trick. In another match, Idukki beat Kollam 4-0. Captain Mohammad Shabeel scored a hat-trick. In the first match of Group D, current runners-up Thrissur beat Kottayam 4-2. Ashiq K.M. Scored a double goal.
