Augsburg (dpa / lby) – The Augsburg Panthers have brought back defender Simon Sezemsky. The 29-year-old ice hockey defender, who was on the ice for Augsburg from 2015 to 2021, comes from the Löwen Frankfurt. In 194 DEL appearances for Augsburg, Sezemsky scored 35 goals and gave 47 assists, as the Bavarian club from the German Ice Hockey League announced on Saturday.
Coach Christof Kreutzer described the newcomer as a “DEL and DEL2 experienced” player. “In addition, Simon also knows the Augsburg location and gave the impression in our conversations that he had a great desire to be a panther again, regardless of the league,” Kreutzer continued.
It is still uncertain in which league Augsburg will play next season. As the penultimate of the DEL season, the Swabians are relegated if Kassel, Krefeld or Dresden wins the DEL2 playoffs. Only these three teams meet the economic requirements for promotion to the DEL. “Even if we don’t know for sure in which league we will continue, I’m looking forward to this exciting challenge,” said Sezemsky.
