Defender Incident – France Supports Britain and Ukraine

The French Foreign Minister declared his solidarity with the United Kingdom involved in the naval incident with Russia in the Black Sea, He stressed his commitment to strict observance of international law.

Also Jean-Yves Le Drian recalled his great vigilance regarding the regional tensions that have recently emerged, in particular in recent days in the Black Sea, and his solidarity with partners.

It is also noted that earlier France drew criticism from some European partners, especially in the East, by the fact that together with Germany advocated the resumption of dialogue between the European Union and Russia after the annexation of Crimea.

Jean-Yves Le Drian also welcomed the ratification of four Franco-Ukrainian economic agreements by the Ukrainian parliament on Thursday. He called them “tangible signs of the dynamism of bilateral relations.”

These agreements, worth 1.3 billion euros, relate, in particular, to the supply of locomotives to Ukraine and water treatment in Kiev.
