Members of the Indonesian Parliament Faction PDIP Masinton Pasaribu defended the Chairman DPR RI Puan Maharani polemic about turning off the microphone when Faction Democrats submit a rejection of the Bill all Law Create Work.
Masinton denied that Puan deliberately turned off the Democratic Faction’s mic. He said the mic turned off automatically because the system had limited talk time to a maximum of five minutes.
“The talk time is also set automatically, because the mic will automatically turn off at the fifth minute,” said Masinton to CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (6/10).
Masinton explained from the start that all factions agreed to limit the talk time to five minutes. Each faction must register its spokesperson to present the final views on the podium.
Board members, said Masinton, can register to speak by pressing a button on the table. They can only speak if given permission by the chairman of the meeting.
He said there was no way Puan would turn off the mic. Because the meeting was not chaired by Puan, but by Azis Syamsuddin from the Golkar faction.
“The leadership of the DPR RI who chaired the plenary session yesterday was Deputy Chairman Pak Azis Syamsuddin,” he said.
Previously, the Plenary Meeting of the ratification of the Work Creation Omnibus Law Bill was colored by a number of political attractions, the chair of the meeting turned off the microphone of members of the Democratic Faction who were expressing their opinions.
The action occurred when Democrat politician Irwan Fecho asked for a postponement of the ratification. When Irwan spoke, the head of the meeting, Azis Syamsudin, gave a code to Puan to press the button.
“Friends, if you want to be appreciated, please stop …,” Irwan’s voice was cut off. Azis also ended the session, the slim Ciptaker bill was approved.
Puan’s action sparked criticism in the public. One of them is the Chairman of the Democratic Party Bappilu, Andi Arief. He quipped Puan’s crying attitude during the SBY administration.
“Members of the Democrat Faction were talking, suddenly the mic was turned off. In the past, we just cried, we will give you a place to hang out in the pans of honor. Miss Marahani,” wrote Andi in the @AndiArief__ account, Monday (5/10).
