Vietnam karate team won 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze at the 2023 Asian Championships
Before entering the competition day on July 23 and also the last day of competition at the 2023 Asian karate championship (Malaysia), Vietnam karate team won 1 silver kumite (fighting) of Vang Thi Ngoc My (women’s +68kg class).
The belief in winning gold is placed in the female kumite team with the quartet Hoang Thi My Tam, Nguyen Thi Ngoan, Dinh Thi Huong, and Vang Thi Ngoc My.
After beating Nepal and China in turn, the Vietnamese female kumite teammate defeated strong opponent Hong Kong (China) 2-1 in the semi-finals.
In the gold medal match with Iran, Nguyen Thi Ngoan was the first fighter and the female martial artist on the Army payroll won. In the next match, Hoang Thi My Tam also competed with confidence and bravery to overcome the opponent, thereby helping the Vietnamese female kumite teammate to win the final 2-1, stepping on the top podium.
In the team kata (performance of rights) content, Vietnamese female boxers were awarded 41.8 points by the referees in the final match, receiving silver. Gold belongs to the Japanese women’s kata teammate (43.1 points).
On the last day of competition, Vietnam karate team also won 1 more gold medal in the men’s team kata content.
In the bronze medal match, the Vietnamese kata male teammate was awarded 40.9 points by the referees, beating Hong Kong (China, 40.1 points).
At the end of the 2023 Asian Karate Championship, Vietnam karate team won 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze, ranked 6th out of 15 of the whole team.
