TOKYO – Indonesian mainstay pair, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan failed to advance to the men’s doubles badminton final Tokyo 2020 Olympics. They failed after being defeated by representatives of Taiwan, Lee Yang / Wang Chi Lin in the semifinals through two straight games, namely with a score of 11-21 and 10-21 in 27 minutes.
With these results, Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan failed to make it to the final, which meant they could not donate a gold or silver medal for Indonesia. However, they still have a chance to contribute a bronze medal when facing the losing pair in the other semifinal.
Playing at Musashino Forest Plaza, Tokyo, Japan on Friday (30/7/2021), Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan started the game very well and were able to suppress Lee/Wang. No wonder they were able to lead 3-0 very quickly.
Even so, Lee / Wang were able to catch up and make the score draw 5-5. Since that moment, the Taiwanese couple was able to perform much better than Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan.
Lee/Wang’s fast game made it difficult for Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan to end up falling quite far behind when they touched the first interval, with a score of 8-11. I don’t know what happened to Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, they were completely silent at point 8.
Lee/Wang did not give any points to Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan until they finally scored 8-17. Six points in a row really made Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan far behind.
