Singapore to semifinal AFF Cup 2020 after beating Timor Leste 2-0. The Lions followed Thailand who first stepped into the next round.
Singapore played its third match in Group A against Timor Leste at the National Stadium, Tuesday (14/12/2021) night WIB. The team made by Tatsuma Yoshida had to work hard to score two goals against Timor Leste.
Singapore’s quick goal was actually obtained through Adam Swandi in the fourth minute. After that, Timor Leste gave a fierce and braver resistance than the previous match.
Singapore finally got a second goal in the 70th minute. Sakir Hamzah succeeded in tearing the goal of Timor Leste after a crisis occurred from a free shot.
Singapore now sits in second place with nine points from three matches. Hariss Harun et al. behind Thailand on goal difference.
Both teams are entitled to a ticket to the semifinals and will fight each other in the last match to find the group winner. Timor Leste is confirmed to be caretaker with zero points.
The Philippines is in third place and Myanmar is in fourth place with the same three points. The two teams will face off in the final match.
