Speaking in Berlin on the 50th anniversary of German politician Wolfgang Schauble’s career, Morawiecki insisted that Germany should allow the delivery of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
Poland and Finland have pledged the tanks to Kiev, but need formal permission from Germany to actually hand them over.
“Today the Ukrainian people are fighting not only for their freedom, but also to defend Europe,” said Morawiecki.
“I ask the German government to act decisively and send all kinds of weapons to Ukraine,” he said again, as quoted from Russia TodayTuesday (17/1/2023).
“Ukraine’s defeat could be the start of World War III, so today there is no reason to block support for Kiev and postpone matters indefinitely,” he added.

The Polish PM also spoke of “Ukrainian blood being shed” to prevent what he claimed was a Russian attack on other EU countries.
Last week, Ukraine’s Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov said in an interview that Ukraine was shedding blood to carry out a “NATO mission”, so the US-led military bloc had to supply it with weapons.
Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger previously said Germany had around 110 Leopard tanks potentially delivered to Ukraine––88 of them are old Leopard 1s––but making them fit for service would cost hundreds of millions of euros and take around a year.
