Defeat in Zug: EHC Munich miss the quarter-finals
Zug/Switzerland The quarterfinals of the Ice Hockey Champions League will take place without German teams. After Wolfsburg and Straubing, EHC Munich also withdrew. The Bavarians lost their sensation at EV Zug and after 1:5 in the first leg had to admit defeat in the second leg with 1:5.
Gregory Hofmann (1st minute), Dario Allenspach (24th), Fabrice Herzog (30th), Samuel Kreis (34th) and Yannick Zehnder (47th) scored for the Swiss champions. Ben Smith (12th) managed to equalize in the meantime.
The mortgage from the first meeting was too high for the Munich team. When Hofmann then scored for the home side after 49 seconds, almost nothing happened at first. Zug definitively rejected the EHC. However, the guests equalized at the first opportunity. Andi Eder missed on first try, then Smith struck and scored. Some hope rose in the goalscorer and his colleagues, but when Julian Lutz dropped the puck as last man and Allenspach used the misstep to take the lead, Bayern Munich’s head collapsed.
