Fortuna has suffered its first defeat after a great start to the competition. In their own stadium they lost 0-3 to NEC.
Fortuna had little to offer against the guests from Nijmegen. NEC in particular had the ball and the team of trainer Buijs seemed to accept that. After half an hour NEC took the lead. Just before half time the ball disappeared into the nets of Fortuna keeper Mattijs Branderhorst once again.
After the break, a stronger Fortuna was on the field, which resulted in more chances but no goals. It was former Roda player Sami Ouaissa who put the final score on the scoreboard. It was also the first goal in the Eredivisie for the player from Brunssum.
