Real Sociedad managed to win the 2019/20 Copa Del Rey. David Silva et al hold champion status after defeating their rivals, Athletic Bilbao, by a score of 1-0.
The Bilbao vs Sociedad match which was held at the Estadio de La Cartuja, Sevilla, Sunday (4/4/2021) in the morning WIB was the final match that was supposed to be played in April last year, but was delayed due to COVID-19.
The two teams at that time agreed to postpone the schedule because they hoped that the pandemic could be overcome. That way, the final match, titled the Basque derby, can be held in front of the supporters.
However, it seems that the COVID-19 pandemic in the world has not ended until now, including in Spain. So, this match will still be held without spectators. Even so, this fight is still going on tight.
Although Bilbao lost possession of the ball (43% versus 57%), Iker Muniain et al were able to record two shots on goal, compared to one belonging to Sociedad. Ironically for Bilbao, one shot on goal from Sociedad was enough to lead them to the championship.
In the 58th minute, Sociedad got a penalty after Inigo Martinez violated Cristian Portu. Martinez got a red card, but the referee turned it into a yellow card after checking the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
Even so, penalties were still given. Mikel Oyarzabal, who stepped forward as the kicker, beat Unai Simon. The 1-0 score lasted until the game was over.

This victory was highly welcomed by the Sociedad public. Not only for winning the Basque derby at a prestigious event, but also for ending 34 years of trophy thirst. Previously, the last trophy that entered the club wardrobe was the Copa Del Rey in 1987.
As for Bilbao, this defeat has wiped out their dreams of winning two Copas Del Rey at once. It is known that they also qualified for the Copa Del Rey 2020/21 final against Barcelona, which will be held after the schedule on April 17.
