Defeat against Paris: Berlin Thunder without playoff chance

Berlin Thunder lost the penultimate home game in the European League of Football and no longer have a chance to reach the playoffs. The
Berlin still had a 37:40 (23:14) lead at halftime in the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark. Eight seconds before the end, Dawson Wales sealed the Thunder defeat with an intercepted pass.

The home team got off to a good start, taking the lead in the first drive. But after the touchdown by running back Albert Wiesigstrauch, the points in the sports arena at Mauerpark were over for the time being. It was not until the second quarter that a respectable game developed. The 23:14 halftime lead was well deserved for Berlin.

But in the second half, the guests from the Seine turned the game around, taking the lead for the first time three minutes before the end of the third period. Berlin did Thunder things again in the second 30 minutes. Berlin lost the ball twice within 30 minutes.
Seconds changed the momentum. Paris consistently punished the rookie mistakes. Berlin head coach Johnny Schmuck had demanded more consistency from his team during the half-time break.

Thunder suffered its third defeat in a row. This means that Berlin is no longer in a position to qualify for the playoffs. The match between Berlin and Paris was, alongside the match between Frankfurt and Cologne (37:43), a close encounter. All other comparisons of the
Matchday results with a difference of up to 46 points were further proof of the imbalance of the European League of Football – a shortcoming of the league.
