The need to find economic resources to solve emergencies has caused many people to fall into an unexpected and oppressive situation.
In recent times there have been cases of people falling into the hands of a loan company that offers its “services” through an electronic application.
When the applicant has difficulty paying, the company resorts to a smear campaign by creating a WhatsApp group with the contractor’s contacts.
Through this medium, it launches various charges against the debtor, including that of being linked to crimes such as child pornography and human trafficking. In this way, those who have problems paying live a martyrdom.
The $ 3,000 loan triggers a series of allegations
Taking on emergency credit has become a martyrdom for someone identified as Carlos in recent weeks.
Accessing an electronic application, he applied for a $ 3,000 loan, which he had to pay off in seven days. The young man says that at the end of the loan repayment term he did not have the full amount.
Faced with an initial message about his late payment, he informed lenders that he did not have the resources to pay, but the next day he could deposit half the debt and then repay it.
However, he was told he had until two in the afternoon to make the payment. They kept texting him all day, but because he didn’t have the money, he didn’t answer.
So 15 days went by and when he contacted them to reach a settlement, they told him he had 15 minutes to pay off the debt, which had already risen to $ 6,300 due to interest. Carlos told them he could only pay half, but again they refused and asked for full payment.
It was then that the landscape became more complex and difficult: 10 minutes later his girlfriend called him on the phone to ask him if he had already seen the WhatsApp group they had created with his contacts, to which they would have had access by downloading the application.
He immediately checked his WhatsApp account and saw the group, in which they accused him of child pornography and of selling his daughter to pay off his debts, warning them to be careful with him because he is a “pervert”.
Immediately his contacts began sending him private messages asking him what was going on.
They reject the relationship
He sent a message to the application asking for the loan to ask if they created the group, but they said no, they only work in the application to grant money and follow up on customer deposits. They pointed out that he didn’t care if he engaged in child pornography in his spare time, even if it was a crime.
Carlos had already sent a message to the administrator of the WhatsApp group in which they were vilifying him, who denied being part of the lenders, but reached an agreement with the grantors of the loan to repay half the debt that day and seven days on the l other half, they stopped messaging the group.
Since he left work at three in the afternoon and the deadline to deposit was until four, he was still on his way to collect the money to deposit when they started messaging WhatsApp again.
They pointed out that he was back with his “pen …”, that he hadn’t made the deposit and surely it was a story that was about to pay off.
He reiterated that he was going to make the deposit, but in line at the bank they sent him messages again claiming the non-payment and attacking him with insults until finally it was his turn and he made the deposit.
Two days later, he was able to fully pay off the debt, and the messages in the chat group were cut off.
As detailed, in the group they not only sent defamatory messages against him, but also took a profile photo of his girlfriend, another minor daughter of his and posted them in the group, as well as posting explicit child pornography videos and other material. similar. .
Given the situation, Carlos filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office, where the person who assisted him told him that other people had already come to report similar situations, so there are several cases in which the same “modus operandi” is managed by the online loan applications.
They told him that in some cases like his they use defamation, in others they threaten to beat or kill them.
