In the early afternoon, Dieudonné had announced on its website, a performance of its show entitled “Sous bracelet: an extraordinary show” in Nimes (Gard), for this Friday March 15.
The Prefect of the department, Jerome Bonet, was quick to react. He took a decree ban on performance.
Ban throughout the department
“Dieudonné was the subject of numerous criminal convictionssome of which are definitive, for remarks of an anti-Semitic nature, which incite racial hatred and disregard the dignity of the human person,” recalls the State representative.
« L’organisation quasi clandestine of this show with communication from the venue a few hours before the show does not make it possible to ensure the conditions for preventing public order disturbances that can be expected for this performance,” specifies the press release.
A decision welcomed by the municipality
The ban on the performance of the show taken by the Prefect of Gard concerns “ the entire Gard departmentincluding with the help of a bus,” says the Prefecture.
The decision was welcomed by Jean-Paul Fourniercurrent Mayor of Nîmes.
“This decree is a very good thing. It will prevent the holding of this spectacle which would not have failed to convey negationist, rancid and abject theses,” reacted the councilor of Nîmes. The latter specifies that he asked the municipal police to “stay in touch with state services and thus support the application of the prefectural decision”.
